Gari is the most popular form in which cassava is consumed in the West Africa sub region. Loved across Africa, Gari (often spelt Garri) is an incredibly versatile ground food that is eaten as a snack and used as an ingredient in many traditional African dishes. Made from ground, sieved and fried cassava tubers, Gari is ready-to-eat straight from the pack and is a key ingredient in many African dishes.
One way to enjoy it, is to drink it, simply add water to the grains stir and there you have it. People often add sugar, groundnut or milk to it, making it a balanced meal/snack. Another way is to cook it in hot water and made into a dough which is eaten with a wide variety of soups or sauces.
